ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work with Art Directors and Designers to bring campaigns and product-centric promotions to life in digital media • Utilize Object-Oriented Programming techniques to create interactive media which clearly explains the features and benefits of new and emerging technologies and devices • Work with Communications, Marketing, and Engineering staff to plan, manage, and complete requested projects on deadline OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Stay abreast of new tools and techniques used in the interactive and animation field; primarily in the development of Object-Oriented Programming • Remain current on new media and traditional design disciplines • Adhere to, and assist in, developing standards that will streamline projects and produce more efficient working habits for the interactive team as it grows • Perform other job related duties as assigned Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Associates degree in Interactive Design/Animation or a related degree (Graphic Design or Fine Arts) or if no degree, a minimum of 3 years experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description • An online portfolio demonstrating exceptional understanding and development of interactive media. • Must possess knowledge of JavaScript/jQuery and HTML5 • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others • Must be flexible and able to work accurately in a fast paced environment • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision • Must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: • MVC experience • PHP, XML, AS3 • MySQL • Flex experience • Proficiency using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash • Familiarity with Codeigniter, UNIX, & SSH a big plus • Experience with Interactive gaming solutions • Previous experience in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing EEO/AA 1209 Please apply online at http://www.garmin.com/careers Kansas City /jobs/1209
