How Big Can You Think?

This person will lead the market research and user experience research efforts for Yahoo's Front Doors Business Unit. This includes Yahoo's front page and My Yahoo among other things, but you will also work on design standards across Yahoo's properties. You will manage three researchers and will be expected to execute certain projects yourself, mostly in the market research domain.

You should have a minimum of 10 years experience with quantitative and qualitative research, and you are an expert in turning customer insights into actionable business intelligence. Qualified candidates will be able to oversee multiple projects and staff members for a wide variety of constituencies at one time and ideally have experience with leading research that supports business & product strategy, marketing and design. Strategic and analytical thinking is crucial for the position as well as a team-player attitude. Ideally you have experience managing a diverse group of researchers.

Job Responsibilities

* Lead a team of market researchers and user experience researchers and integrate data mining and third-party measurements into a synthesized, cohesive understanding of consumers and advertisers.
* Manage product development research (including ideation and concept testing), audience measurements, loyalty, retention, customer experience benchmarks and customer satisfaction research.
* Take the lead on projects and drive them through the process from concept to completion.
* Ensure that all insights are translated into actionable business intelligence.
* Manage relationships and deliverables with vendors.
* Oversee, and participate in research analysis, report writing, presentations and follow-through.
* Consistently and effectively communicate and distribute research learnings to the organization - both primary and secondary information from a variety of sources.

Job Qualifications

* Background in Internet products, e-commerce and/or search is preferred.
* Strong strategic and analytical skills as well as detail oriented.
* Proven track record managing research for several businesses and business situations requiring a wide variety of research capabilities, including market research, audience tracking, and user experience research.
* Experience guiding research projects through design, fielding, data analysis, report writing, and presentations.
* Experience with and thorough understanding of a broad range of methodologies, including but not limited to field studies, focus groups, concept testing, usability testing, survey research, customer segmentation, positioning and third-party measurements.
* Excellent people skills with experience working in a highly cross-functional team environment with respect for and appreciation of a variety of skills and competencies.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a history of effective communication with senior executives.
* Desire to work in a fast-paced, fun and demanding environment.
* Proven track-record of management required for people management position.
