The New York Times is actively recruiting an experienced User Experience practitioner to help with customer experience research at NYTimes.com. The individual will report to the User Experience Manager within the Customer Insight Group. This is a full-time position based in The New York Times office in midtown Manhattan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather user feedback; develop an understanding of user needs, and create the appropriate tools to translate that understanding into actionable information
- Refine NYTimes.com research methods and strategies
- Maintain and build out the NYTimes.com usability lab
- Manage budgets & a fast-paced usability testing schedule
- Help to create & prioritize a user research and usability plan/process in partnership with product team
- Plan, design and conduct high quality user experience research projects for the Web site, and related products (mobile, etc)
- Oversee the planning, creation and execution of surveys for the Web site, and related products
- Work closely with product teams to provide user insights
- Advocate for the user/customer by building consensus with product managers, designers, and leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of experience with user experience research activities, including things like contextual inquiry, RITE and standard usability testing, eye-tracking, heuristic evaluation, card sorting, focus groups and survey design
- Knowledge of Net Promoter Score methodology
- Familiarity with A/B testing preferred
- A plus: Bachelor, Master or PhD in Anthropology, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with a variety of research methods
- Strong project management and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Able to use insights from user research to provide recommendations for product strategy and innovation
- A love of The New York Times and a passion for the internet
