Smart Design is looking for a Senior Interaction Designer with top-notch design skills and experience creating user interfaces for a variety of consumer electronic products and services to join our San Francisco team.

The ideal candidate has been executing detailed interaction designs for several years – incorporating physical and digital interface techniques to create emotive experiences. Most importantly you should be comfortable designing across physical and digital interfaces for a variety of device types - from the computer monitor on your desk, to the cell phone in your pocket, to the touch screen at the airport, to the flat panel embedded in the wall.

This position is a leadership role. You will be expected to lead small multi-disciplinary design teams through client engagements, delivering the highest quality design solutions while respecting a project budget and achieving the overall client goals. In addition, you will help guide and grow the practice and studio culture.

We are an interdisciplinary design studio; you will work with teams of industrial, interaction and communication designers as well as design researchers and engineers. In the end, you will be helping to design the total customer experience - of which the interface is only a part.

Qualifications
• 3-5 years experience designing for different device types: TV, PC, Kiosk, Smart phone, Embedded devices, etc
• Proven skills designing emotive experiences that meet core design drivers and requirements (user goals, design vision, technology and business requirements, etc)
• Basic visual design, motion graphics and dynamic interaction skills
• Experience with physical prototyping platforms (Arduino, etc) a plus
• Experience working with or a background in industrial designers a big plus
