Information Architect / Interaction Designer

at Blockbuster Digital Technologies, Inc.

Location: New York City

Blockbuster Advanced Technologies, an independent division of Blockbuster,
Inc located in NYC is looking for a seasoned Information Architect /
Interaction Designer with a strong portfolio, drive, and the skills to help
build Blockbuster's next generation digital offerings including
Blockbuster.com. Candidates should have a passion for building easy-to-use,
consumer-friendly yet engaging experiences for a leading media brand.

You've had plenty of experience with consumer-facing brands, especially
those that have built their products around ecommerce and entertainment.
You are well versed in designing for the web (application design is a plus),
taking into account advertising, SEO, SEM, usability requirements and an
aggressive timeline. You are detail-oriented and organized and have a great
process that you use in your own work and in working with teams.

You will own the process flows, wireframes, and interaction maps as a key
member of the User Experience team. Working jointly with Business Owners,
Strategists, Project Managers, Visual Designers and Engineers you will help
to transform user and business needs into product features and hi-fidelity
wireframes and specs.

Qualifications in an ideal candidate

· Detailed knowledge of user experience best practices

· A strong attention to detail and exceptional organization,
prioritization and analytical skills

· Plenty of experience designing commerce and content-driven sites (4+
years of ecommerce, entertainment, or media, etc.)

· The ability to ask appropriate questions and communicate effectively
to a broad range of people.

· Experience in developing interactive products (5+ years)

· Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Visio, Illustrator,
or Photoshop (Ability to create wireframes in HTML is a plus)

· Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

· A background in user and usability testing is a plus

· Project Management and/or Visual Design Background is desirable

Responsibilities

· Gather and understand user and business needs

· Maintain a thorough understanding of backend systems and capabilities

· Stay up-to-date on latest front-end trends, search engine
optimization requirements, and new products for web and wireless.

· Develop screen wireframes, process flows, site maps, and functional
requirements based on a synthesis of user needs, technical restrictions &
requirements, and business goals.
